Education for Emergence in the Future
In April 2000, we embarked on a transformative shift in our educational and research framework,
moving beyond the conventional, discipline-specific structure to establish a more flexible,
interdisciplinary organization.
At the heart of this transformation was the principle of Emerging—
a commitment to fostering dynamic interactions among diverse elements, leading to groundbreaking
discoveries and innovations.
And now, in April 2026, we take this evolution even further.
Striving for emergence.
Catalyzing emergence.
Embodying emergence.
With this unwavering conviction, we will introduce a system that allows faculty members to affiliate
freely with multiple research groups,
fostering a more fluid and diverse research environment.
In parallel, we will reorganize the vast academic landscape into four distinct schools, ensuring a
rigorous educational foundation
that cultivates the expertise necessary for Emergence to thrive.
With a global perspective, we cultivate emergent talents — individuals who enhance their research
capabilities, strengthen their leadership,
and drive society forward, shaping a future of greater prosperity.
This is the mission of Graduate School of Science and Technology, Keio University.
